Edwardsville High School Science Teacher
Honors Biology II
About the Course
Honors Biology II is designed to focus on students’ in-depth analysis of the concepts, principles, and properties of Life and Living Systems. Students will not only learn new information about many topics, but they will also learn how to approach new information from an analytical, scientific manner. This second-level biology course will cover three main topics in detail.
-
Cell structure & function
-
Genetics
-
Animal anatomy & physiology
We will be identifying cellular structure and biochemistry as well as classifications of cells. We will take a comprehensive approach to genetics by pairing the information with a fruit fly lab. This approach will also be used for animal systems by pairing the information with a rat dissection.
The course will be fast paced and thorough, students are responsible for ensuring they are keeping up with that pace. I invite every student to listen, learn from, and participate in the classroom activities and discussions on these different topics. From your participation, everyone will gain a better understanding of each concept.
Course Syllabus
The course syllabus will outline the schedule, assigned materials, grading and expectations for Honors Biology II. The course schedule is subject to change.
